5 Days Dolomiti Paganella: Scott and Lucchetta are among the protagonists
Numerous top athletes from all over the world will be at the start of 5 Days Dolomiti Paganella. Among them will be New Zealander Toby Scott and Jessica Lucchetta from Veneto, who recently won the Italian Middle-distance title with PWT Italy along with teammate Mattia Debertolis.
“I have done several races and training in the Dolomites so I am somewhat familiar – says the 33-year-old Scott, a member of the German club OLV Steinberg, living in Germany for more than 10 years – Even without orienteering it is a beautiful area to visit. But it also has some really special orienteering terrain which is hard to miss!”
Among the best memories experienced in Italy was winning the 5 Days 2023: “The close battles with my New Zealand teammates. I wasn’t expecting the win but got lucky with a late mispunch from the leader, so that was a nice surprise for me. I expect some exciting new terrain and good times with the family and friends”.
About personal goals for the season, he has no doubts: “I have been battling with injuries since last year so I have been trying to take it easy this year and enjoy some time off. I plan to run in Tiomila and Jukola but I will also enjoy it any other time I can get out into the forest”.

The 27-year-old Jessica Lucchetta, who enabled PWT Italy to reach the 29th title in its history, is also ready to reach Trentino: “This will be the second edition of the event in which I will participate, the first in 2023. I will take the field in the Sprint competitions, scheduled in San Lorenzo Dorsino and Fai della Paganella, because a week later I will be committed to the World Championships in Scotland with the national team.”

Regarding her approach to the competition, she says: “For me, it will be a finishing race just in view of the World Championships, since 5 Days always offers excellent terrain for training and is one of the best opportunities to compare with international athletes of the highest level. A challenge that has always stood out over the years for its quality”.

5 Days Dolomiti Paganella: Scott e Lucchetta tra i protagonisti
Saranno numerosi i top atleti che si presenteranno al via di 5 Days Dolomiti Paganella, provenienti da tutto il mondo. Tra loro il neozelandese Toby Scott e la veneta Jessica Lucchetta, che con il PWT Italia ha recentemente conquistato il titolo italiano su distanza Middle insieme al compagno di team Mattia Debertolis.
“Ho fatto diverse gare e allenamenti nelle Dolomiti – racconta Scott, classe 1991 e membro del club tedesco OLV Steinberg, vivendo in Germania da più di 10 anni – Ho quindi una certa familiarità con questo territorio. Anche senza praticare orienteering, è una zona bellissima da visitare. Ha anche dei terreni per l’orienteering davvero speciali che sono impossibili da perdere!”
Tra i ricordi più belli vissuti in Italia sicuramente la vittoria della 5 Days 2023: “Ricordo le battaglie ravvicinate con i miei compagni di squadra neozelandesi. Non mi aspettavo di vincere, ma sono stato fortunato con un colpo di coda del leader, quindi è stata una bella sorpresa per me. Da questa nuova edizione mi aspetto nuovi terreni emozionanti e bei momenti da vivere con la famiglia e gli amici”.
Rispetto ai personali obiettivi per la stagione, non ha dubbi: “L’anno scorso ho lottato contro gli infortuni, quindi quest’anno sto cercando di prendermela comoda e di godermi un po’ di tempo libero. Ho in programma di correre alla Tiomila e alla Jukola, ma mi divertirò in generale ogni volta che potrò uscire nella foresta”.
Anche Jessica Lucchetta, classe 1997, che ha consentito al PWT Italia di raggiungere il 29esimo titolo della sua storia, è pronta per raggiungere il Trentino: “Sarà la seconda edizione della manifestazione a cui partecipo, la prima nel 2023. Scenderò in campo nelle competizioni Sprint, in programma a San Lorenzo Dorsino e a Fai della Paganella, per preparare al meglio il mio grande obbiettivo, i Mondiali Assoluti in Scozia con la Nazionale, dove spero di essere protagonista”.

In merito al suo approccio alla competizione racconta: “Per me si tratterà di una gara di rifinitura proprio in vista dei Mondiali, visto che 5 Days offre sempre dei terreni ottimi per allenarsi e rappresenta una delle migliori occasioni per confrontarsi con atleti internazionali di altissimo livello. Una sfida che si è sempre distinta negli anni per la sua qualità”.
